And I have to be honest this is one I have really enjoyed discussing with the team, because it reminds me of the famous discussions about Six Degrees of Separation and the Human Web. The fact is, today, almost all our relationships are part of the Human Web.

Most CRM systems are happy enough to just give you a hierarchical view or maybe to build a report or two. But what about person-intensive businesses - like our own, or any professional services industry - where so much depends on 'getting hold of' or as the French might say 'having the ear of' someone?
In CRM On Demand we talk about Contacts and Account and Users. I, the User, need to be able to dig into CRM On Demand and find a way to get hold of my Target Contact, maybe through shared Accounts or Account Contacts or even through other Users I work with or report to.

The Cloud Viewer for CRM On Demand is the first attempt to generate this kind of Human Network view, it is a graphical window that digs down into the data to work towards your Target.. You will be very familiar with this if you are a member of the popular networking site www.linkedin.com. While we wait for the definitive version and a video, here is a taster for you. Draft PDF.

Oracle CRM: Increasing Sales Productivity

Great video about using CRM On Demand and how to increase sales - with a nice pragmatic view, no bulls**t

InFact Group and Whitehouse Consultants

Whitehouse Consultants (www.whitehouse-france.com), one of Europe’s leading JD Edwards consulting firms, and InFact Group (www.infactgroup.com), internationally recognised leaders in the field of Customer Relationship Management, are pleased to announce a technology partnership which sees InFact and Whitehouse bringing to market a fully integrated JD Edwards and Oracle CRM On Demand solution.

By seamlessly integrating both back and front-office data, the Whitehouse/InFact solution enables companies to develop better and more profitable customer relationships. The particular thing, obvious maybe, that struck me was the remark about Click-thru advertising. We base all our statistics (and at infactgroup.com we are no different) on the click-thru ratio of our adverts on Google, Yahoo and the others. But this is just not realistic - how many people actually click on those adverts? What about the advocates, the voices that matter out there on the Social web?

How to operators of traditional CRM systems leverage them to get valuable information and feedback from the wider network? This has been a subject of inquiry for some time here and although we have made progress through our discussions, there still is a lot of work to be done.

Oh, and http://www.ning.com/ got a namecheck during the interview too. "Don't overanalyze", "If you have a running E-Business suite and you have a running on-demand system, you can analyze this to death, or you can take the approach of putting the product right into test". Not sure that would count as best practice, nor do I think many companies would consider it.

..." and the sooner that people start figuring out that you don't control everything anymore, the sooner they're going to build the governance and the management infrastructure to help their company change more quickly."

So building governance comes after the move into the "cloud", not before? Sounds like a dangerous strategy.
